Maligne Canyon Hike 2015 Jasper National Park August 22, 2015 As part of Shawn and Jenn’s anniversary weekend (
www.shawnbenbow.ca/jasper2015), we spent some time along the Maligne Lake Road. After visiting the lower part of the Watchtower Trail (
www.shawnbenbow.ca/watchtower2015) though the recently burned forest, we stopped at Maligne Canyon to show James some waterfalls. Neither Shawn or Jenn could remember the last time we were there in the summer, so it was nice to see the canyon again.
We parked in the main parking lot, about 12 kilometres east of the Jasper townsite. We crossed over the second bridge and descended on the trails along the south side of the canyon. We crossed back over on the third bridge, and made our way down to the fourth bridge. Beyond that point the trail continues in the trees and is less scenic, so we turned around and ascended along the trail on the north side of the canyon back to the parking lot.
Trip Length: 2.0km
Cumulative Ascent/Descent: ~150m
